New Toys!

Who doesn't love new toys?! We recently got to purchase several new things for each of our classrooms thanks to all the money raised through fundraising. Here are just some of the new items to look for in the classrooms! We also purchased a Cricut paper cutter. I personally didn't know much about these before hand but they create some of the coolest things. We have dies to cut letters, numbers, dolls, clothing, animals, cars and trucks, and much more.

OPEN HOUSE!

Stop by our Open House from 3-5pm January 22nd! We will also be at the Cleveland Heights Library Preschool Fair from 2-4pm (the same day, at Lee Rd library!). Join us for refreshments, take a tour of our facility and meet all our wonderful teachers. We hope to see you there!

Holiday Party

On the last day of school before winter break, FCCNS students got to celebrate the holiday season with their families at our Holiday Party. Each class sang a song followed by a potluck brunch, a surprise visit from Santa, and some ornament making and cookie decorating to top it all off!

Creative Movement Class

Here is a video showing just a part of the fun the Fairmount kids have in Creative Movement class. Once a week the kids get to move, dance and sing with their teacher Mrs. Steinweg (you can see her bio on our website http://www.fairmountcoop.org/Teachers.html). They all have so much fun and it is a great day to be a parent helper to see them have a great time together as a class outside of their classroom.

FCCNS Registration for Current Families Begins December 13th

Registration for the 2012-2013 school year will begin next Tuesday, Dec 13th for current FCCNS Co-op families. Someone from the membership committee will be available throughout the week to hand out forms before and after class. The non-refundable registration fee is due with your completed application form.

Those who get their Registration forms and fee in to Jen or Missy by 1:55pm Friday Dec 16th will be entered in a drawing for a $20 Starbucks Gift Card!

Donation levels from $20 to $500 and beyond. From flock of chicks and geese to water buffaloes and heifters. Any level of donation is welcom and will go to Fill An Ark.

This is a festive event featuring food and crafts. Comer browse and hear about how giving to Heifer International feed children and families throughout the world.

All donations receive a gift card that you can give to your honoree. Visit the ornament making station for creating handmade gifts. Great gifts for teachers, friends and family!

Enrichment Activity - Dino Dig

The Cleveland Museum of Natural History came to FCCNS to put on a presentation all about dinosaurs! The kids LOVED this! They got to hold and examine all different kinds of fossils and bones. Then they broke into small groups and got to dig for bones, map their findings and much more!

Enrichment Activity - Dropping Paint and Butterflies!

Each class got to climb a ladder (don't worry I was standing close by, but just stepped away for the picture!) and drop different color paints onto a large canvas and watch them splatter! We also punched butterflies out of colorful paper and then glued them to the canvas. This one of a kind piece will be auctioned off at our annual auction night held this Saturday! Thanks to Jessica McCabe

Cleveland Metro Parks Visits FCCNS

Naturalist Carol Ward of Cleveland Metro Parks visited FCCNS this week. All the classes got to talk about the changes in the weather and our environment happening right now. Each child got to explore the colors and shapes of leaves and talk about the different trees they come from. Afterward they each got to create their own leaf rubbing. Big thanks to Carol for sharing her time with our school and to the Enrichment Committee for organizing another great educational event.

I am sure all of you moms and dads out there are excited the kids are back at school! Well, so are we! The turtle bags are up, the paint and crayons are out, and we are officially two weeks into the school year. Hope all of the kids are transitioning well. If there are questions or concerns about the beginning of the year feel free to ask. Everyone should have received a class roster in their turtle bag. Contact your room parent or anyone on the school board. We are happy to help!

Fall Bike-a-thon and Potluck

Bike-a-Thon in the Church's Parking Lot

Potluck to follow in the dining room

Toddler and young children have the option of biking around the cones

in the parking lot of the church. Participants may complete as many "loops" as desired.

All proceeds of the event will go directly to the students of FCCNS.

New Teacher of the Young 3s Class

We are excited to announce that Carrie Knoop will be joining our teaching staff this fall!

A Kent State graduate, Carrie has taught both Kindergarten and preschool and has worked as an Early Childhood Consultant with Starting Point. Carrie lives in South Euclid with her husband and 2 sons and loves exploring the metro parks with them on the weekends. After being a Stay At Home Mom for the past 5 years, she is excited to be stepping back into the classroom.
